Cooperative Multitasking for Event Driven Sensor Node Operating Systems

Event driven sensor node operating systems like TinyOS have some difficulties with implementing lengthy computations such an encrypting data packets or updating routing topology. TinyOS tasks are non-preemptive and therefore execution of critical tasks will defer for long period of time if currently running task has lengthy computation. In this paper we propose a new computation concept for TinyOS and modify TinyOS 2.x. Task Scheduler for solving this problem. Although our scheduler has significant processing and memory overhead, it is suitable for kind of applications that have long computations.
